Chery put the Stockman diesel hybrid ute on public display at Everything Electric Australia in Sydney. The company’s event notice said it was giving Australians their first public look at the Stockman at Sydney Showground, alongside the MY27 Chery E5 and other new energy models. Chery described the ute as a new-generation hybrid developed with the needs of markets such as Australia in mind. ⁷¹³

Chery’s Stockman model page describes the ute as a diesel and electric model with a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel plug-in hybrid system, 350kW and 800Nm combined output, and drive to all four wheels. The page lists up to 100km of electric-only range under the NEDC cycle, 3,500kg braked towing and 750kg unbraked towing, with at least 247mm of ground clearance. ³¹¹

GoAuto’s Everything Electric wrap identified the Stockman as the brand’s first ute model and said it will compete locally with models including the BYD Shark 6, GWM Cannon and Cannon Alpha PHEV, and the Ford Ranger Hybrid. CarExpert earlier reported the Stockman had attracted more than 5,000 expressions of interest and more than 1,000 deposits, while also noting that pricing and complete specifications would be announced closer to launch. ⁵⁷¹¹
